Gathering a list of players and choosing which rank best fits the individual was a tall task, but we do our best to keep them updated every three months. Our recent update includes an increase in the number of players ranked from 135 to 175. Here we resume our breakdown series by taking a quick look at eight newcomers.
#52 | JOEL WEBB | 6’6 C | WISE
Joel Webb thrust himself onto the radar early in the season with a dominant 16-point, 12-rebound, 4-block performance in a win over North Point at the DMV Tip-Off. While he has the tools and motor to become a very good shot blocker at the next level, one thing Webb needs to improve is his free throw shooting.
#57 | KAYLEN VINES | 6’3 SG/PG | FREDERICK DOUGLASS (PG)
An industrious guard who can fill it up offensively, Kaylen Vines is a brilliant defender who plays with toughness. The 6-foot-3 southpaw is a good rebounding guard who can go coast to coast and score in the paint or create for others. One thing Vines needs to improve is the consistency of his perimeter jump shot.
#58 | RASHEED COOLEY | 6’1 PG/SG | LACKEY
Rasheed Cooley has the ability to play on and off the ball thanks to his blend of skill to go along with his impressive feel. A long-limbed and ultra-quick athlete who knows how to change speeds, Cooley is adept at creating shots off the bounce for both himself and others.
#82 | DOMONIC HARVEY | 6’4 SF | BALLOU
Known as “The Grasshopper”, Domonic Harvey is one of the best athletes you will find in this region. The lanky 6-foot-4 wing definitely needs to put on some weight before college, but he is blessed with raw physical attributes that you don’t see every day.
#83 | MYLES ANDERSON | 6’2 SF/SG | RIVERDALE BAPTIST
Myles Anderson is a swiss-army knife who can guard three different positions on the wing, but will also mix it up in the paint and come up with blocked shots or out of area rebounds. One of his best attributes is his playmaking ability on offense. The unsigned senior is not a ball stopper and thrives off involving his teammates. One thing Anderson needs to prove is that he can consistently knock down shots from behind the arc.
#90 | JALEN HAYES | 6’0 SG/PG | GYWNN PARK
Jalen Hayes is a matchup problem as a result of his ability to shoot from deep, handle and create off the bounce for both himself and others. He is a good rebounder who likes to get out in transition and score quickly on the other end. Hayes is a heat check guy who can fill it up in a hurry, but does have the propensity to go cold on a given night.
#93 | JORDAN JOHNSON | 6’1 SG | RIVERDALE BAPTIST
The first time we saw Jordan Johnson, he shot 12 of 14 from the field and scored 28 points, but did turn it over 4 times despite recording 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and a steal in a win over Douglass-PG. A relentless rebounder who is active and alert defensively, Johnson is a long-lanky guard who plays hard and efficiently. He can hit spot up threes or attack closeouts and finish with either hand through contact or in traffic.
#94 | SATCHEL BALL | 6’1 SG/PG | NORTH POINT
Satchel Ball is an excellent three point shooter who can also mix it up in the paint and seeks contact on his drives to the basket. He’s a good rebounding guard who can push in transition and make proper reads with the ball in his hands. Ball is also a good cutter who knows how to fill the lanes off the ball.
