He broke the news with this statement via Instagram, “After talking extensively with my family I have decided to reopen my recruitment. This was a difficult decision because the UMD campus, coaching staff and players have all been first class with my family and me, for which we are extremely grateful. Coach Wieck and UMD will still be a major consideration as I go through the process of exploring my options.”
In an exclusive interview with the star forward, Prep Hoops’ caught up about with him about his decommitment and plans for the next couple of months.
Ivory stated, “There’s a lot of reasons I decided to decommit, after the season I thought a lot about how it went and I thought that I can contribute at the next level…It was a very tough decision to make but at the same time I think it was the best for me and my family,” said Ivory, “I just want to find a school I fall in love with.”
According to Ivory, his goal is to play division one, and he underpinned that by stating, “I try to give 100 percent on the court at all times. I think I’m versatile as well. I can finish in the lane and also on the perimeter. Plus I’m always working because there is always something I know I can improve on.”
For those unfamiliar with Ivory, the forward averaged 20.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1 assist per game, and at 6’5 with a lengthy frame, he’s hitched on a bandwagon of supporters through great play all year, and on the grassroots circuit.
