G Keith Clemons (Vincennes – Sophomore)
Clemons is one of the more coveted JUCO prospects on the board. There were quite a few mid-major and high-major coaches there to check him out. This 6’1” combo guard is a lock down defender with tenacity. Moves very well laterally on the defensive end and gets into his opponent. Offensively he started off a bit slow and then got it rolling. This sophomore can really shoot it pulling up off the bounce from both mid-range and three. Balance on the shot and consistent mechanics. Drilled an array of them in the second half on his way to 20 points. Clemons grades out as a solid mid-major to mid-major plus prospect.
PF Lony Francis (Vincennes – Sophomore)
Francis is a 6’7” post with long arms and an angular build. He knows his game and sticks to it. Goes to his hook shot over and over again. Was unstoppable with it in the paint throughout the game. The lefty is very fluid with it and gets right into his shot as soon as he touches the ball. Opens wide in the paint calling for the ball. Efficient on the block and is a quality rebounder. Will need to add counters to that hook shot going forward. He had 16 points. Francis is a no brainer at the low-major level. Should even get some consideration at the mid-major level.
PF George Dixon (Vincennes – Sophomore)
Dixon is an undersized post at only 6’5”. He is a thicker bodied big man that is a decent athlete at his size. Proved defensively he could wall up in the paint and moved his feet well on the perimeter. He is a very good offensive rebounder that hits the glass with force. Got a lot of put backs and scores so well through contact. Bully ball big man had 16 points and projects as a low-major post.
SG Kevin Osawe (Vincennes – Freshman)
Osawe is an intriguing freshman. At 6’6” he has excellent size and projectability. Long and angular frame. The wing showed a burst slashing it and knocked down a pair of corner threes. Also hit a smooth one dribble pull up. Went for 11 points. Has D1 potential down the line.
SG Craig Porter (Vincennes – Freshman)
Porter is another freshman that impressed for Vincennes. He is a 6’1” two guard that is a plus shooter from the perimeter drilling a trio of threes against Shawnee. He moves well without the ball relocating to his spots and proved to be a quality defender laterally and even blocking shots. Went for 11 points.
PF Jordan Lyons (Vincennes – Sophomore)
Lyons came off the bench as a role player, but he has potential as well at the next level. The 6’7” post is a strong kid with good athleticism. Runs the floor well, quick second jump to the glass, and has potential as a rim protector. Low-major/D2 prospect.
PG Demarquis Henry (Shawnee – Freshman)
Henry is a former Zion Benton standout who is a quick scoring point guard. Pushes with his speed and short area quickness. Proved to be an improved shooter knocking down an array of pull up shots including multiple threes en route to 17 points.
PG Mario Goggins (Shawnee – Sophomore)
Goggins is a thick bodied 6’0” point guard that got to the foul line at a decent clip. Powerful attacking scoring on a jump stop in the lane and a runner. Went for 10 points. D3 prospect.
SF Darrian McBride (Shawnee – Freshman)
McBride has a thick body and a bit of an awkward game, but he did get some buckets. The lefty consistently took forced step back jumpers. Did hit a few of them although the shot selection needs work. Went for 9 points.
PF Parker Dortch (Kaskaskia – Sophomore)
Dortch must bring his best for when I am in the house. The 6’7” four man was outstanding earlier in the season and was just as good in our second viewing of him. He isn’t the most athletic prospect but with his combination of strength and skill he gets the job done. Knocked down several pick/pop jumpers showing range on his shot. Also was tough inside finishing through contact. He had 24 points. He impressed a lot of low-major and D2s at the event.
PG Jamal Thomas (Kaskaskia – Sophomore)
Thomas is another former Illinois prep prospect that we saw on Tuesday. This point guard set the tone on both ends of the floor. He forced OCC’s star into tough shots and did the best job he could on the defensive end. Offensively he got in the lane for and-1s and scoop shoots. Tough as nails kid. He had 19 points. Thomas is a rock solid D3 guard.
SF Thomas Bell (Kaskaskia – Sophomore)
This former Cahokia standout is a 6’5” long and rangy wing. He flashed with a nice slash, three, and got on the offensive glass for a put back. Kid that has always had upside, but the consistent production along with the release point on the jump shot concerns us. He had 9 points. Worth looking at for D2 programs.
SG Shane Ganz (Kaskaskia – Sophomore)
Ganz had one of his more impressive games at KC. Plus shooter at 6’3” that can move off the ball to get open. Went for 10 points. D3 prospect.
SF Jalen Williams (Kaskaskia – Freshman)
Williams is an intriguing prospect. A 6’5” he has positional size and can really shoot the rock. Hit four triples off the catch with a fluid stroke. One to watch down the line. Went for 13 points.
PG Jalen Moore (Olney Central College – Freshman)
Moore is a tiny 5’8” point guard that is a dynamic scorer for OCC. The freshman point guard has put up monster scoring numbers as a freshman. He had to work for them in this one, but still managed to put points on the board. This lefty is a shifty and crafty guard with exceptional short area quickness. Takes a lot of difficult step back shots, but also hit on his fair share of them on his way to 20 points. Only a freshman, but a kid that low-majors should monitor heading into next season.
SF Davion Warren (Olney Central College – Sophomore)
This 6’5” small forward has a strong and athletic build. Definitely at his best as a slasher. Uses his physicality to finish at the cup and is a strong straight line driver. Can also post up weaker wings. Later in the game he showed touch on the jumper knocking down a pair of threes and another pull up mid-range jumper. He had 18 points. Worth looking into for low-majors and D2s.
SF Charlie Cochran (Olney Central College – Freshman)
Cochran is a 6’5” freshman wing that was very active. He has a nose for the ball on offensive rebounds and always seemed to be making a play. Knocked down a three and had a strong straight line attack. Finished with 13 points.
C Tyler Witz (Olney Central College – Sophomore)
Witz is a big bodied center at 6’10” and 250 pounds. Quality area rebounder that gobbled up boards. Not your typical JUCO center with his size and mass he showed decent mobility including throwing down a powerful pick/roll dunk. He had 11 points. D2 big man.
SG Wade Coomer (Olney Central College – Sophomore)
Coomer is mostly known as a three point shooting threat and he did hit one late, but he was actually most effective scoring on post ups and from the mid-post area with a quick jumper. The D2/D3 prospect had 9 points.
SF Nathan Scott (Olney Central College – Sophomore)
Scott is a prospect we saw throughout high school. He has continued to grow as he is now listed at 6’8”. Long and projectable forward didn’t have his best game. He wasn’t very active and seemed tentative. Was fouled on a drive and hit a short jumper on his way to 5 points.
