Opening Game:
• Columbus South Vs. Norwalk: In D2 action, this will be one of the best games to catch in the state this round. South having lost one game all season, comes in the obvious favorite. But the #1 seed from their district, Norwalk, can play as well. Led by Brandon Haraway, D2 Ashland signer, Norwalk can put it on you. South will need someone to step up and guard Haraway, which, they have plenty of options. Decent depth, South will be led by their senior guard Tre Watkins. And, he should definitely have the advantage in terms of guard matchups. Both picking up solid wins on their way to the regional semifinal, should be a high intensity game on every level. The winner, will have a heavy chance at getting to the state final four in Columbus.
Night Cap:
• Cleveland Central Catholic Vs. Lima Shawnee: Coming off a win over Bay, 53-40, Central Catholic is now focused on Shawnee. A game in which they actually trailed in the final period, Central Catholic went on a big run to take down a good Bay team. Cleveland Central Catholic flashed the ability to shut out good teams for periods of time, in which they have done before. Coming off a double-double Taryl Davis will be a problem for Lima Shawnee. A solid rebounding 6-foot-4 forward who will beat you inside. The Ironmen of Cleveland have multiple players over 6’5” that will be a tough culprit all game. Lima Shawnee is coming off a good win over Van Wert. The Indians will be led by Johnny Caprella a Senior, who can get a bucket when needed. Also, for Shawnee, they have the benefit of sophomores who can flat out play. George Mangas and Tyson Elwer will be underclass contributors for Shawnee on the big stage. This game should live up to the hype, as both teams are battle tested.
