Regional Matchups:
• Pickerington North (22-4) Vs. Newark(20-6): On Wednesday, these two teams will battle it out for a spot in the regional final. Both teams have been playing lights out, and have younger players stepping up. For Newark, they will look to slow down sophomore Jack Sawyer of Pickerington North. Sawyer is an elite forward who gets it done inside, with his trademark turnaround, that is virtually not easy to defend. Newark has a mismatch problem of their own in 6-foot-7 Keshawn Heard. Their leading scorer, will look to do work inside against the Panthers. This one should be a physical, game of runs.
• Olentangy Liberty (22-4) Vs. Pickerington Central (25-1): Coming in, Pickerington Central is the favorite, after squeaking by Reynoldsburg. But, Liberty has something that the Tigers don’t, a wing like Ben Roderick. Averaging close to 30 PPG all season, Roderick will have to do every bit of that to take down the Tigers. Also, Nick Nakasian will look to be a second hand option against Central. Advantage to Pick Central is lead guard Javohn Garcia, who the Patriots will have trouble with. With no one known who could check Garcia, look for him to step up. A rather deep team, if for instance Conner Maciag catches fire for the Tigers, it could be over quick for Liberty. But, this one should be a slugfest, and one of the top games in the state.
