These teams are based on season performance and are not the same thing as prospect rankings (which are based on college potential). Here are your Class of 2021 All-State Teams! The teams are presented in no particular order.
First Team:
- Scotty Draud, Beechwood – Draud led Beechwood to the best season in school history while being 3 among Sophomores in scoring. Beechwood beat Covington Catholic twice, won their district for the first time in decades and finished a game shy of Rupp Arena.
- Kelly Niece, Simon Kenton – The second best Sophomore in northern Kentucky, Kelly is a walking bucket. Checking in with 23.4 points per game, Niece plays in a wide open offensive systems where he excels at attacking the rim and creating for others.
- Isaiah Mason, Bowling Green – Isaiah had a big season for the Purples and almost got them back to the Sweet 16. Looking forward to a potentially big AAU season for Mason, he projects well as a shooting guard or scoring combo guard at the next level.
- Ben Johnson, Lexington Catholic – One of the best players in Lexington as a Sophomore, Johnson had multiple huge scoring games including putting up 40 points in a game. Beyond being a scorer, Ben is a good passer who actually knows how to feed the post.
- Trey James, Sheldon Clark – Speaking of feeding the post, Trey feasted on undersized post players all season long. Averaging a double-double is nothing to sneeze at as a Sophomore but Trey has a chance to prove himself as an elite post player this summer.
Second Team:
- Jaden Rogers, Fern Creek
- Darrius Washington, Fern Creek
- Sam Conley, Spencer County
- JaQuais Franklin, Elizabethtown
- Anthony Woodard, Logan County
Third Team:
- DaShawn Jackson, Frederick Douglass
- Wyatt Vieth, St. Henry
- Kale Gaither, Union County
- Cory Vanhoose, Johnson Central
- Connor Robinson, Clay County
Honorable Mention:
DeAjuan Stepp, West Jessamine
Q’Daryius McHenry, Grayson County
Camden Williams, Elizabethtown
Nash Divine, Muhlenberg County
Jaz Johnson, Wolfe County
Devin Perry, Central
Isaiah May, Johnson Central
Wade Pelfrey, Hazard
Mason Moore, Rowan County
Noah Gordon, Shelby County
