It is now time for Prep Hoops Kentucky to unveil our All-State Teams. Here are your Class of 2019 All-State Teams! The teams are presented in no particular order.
First Team
F Isaiah Cozart (Madison Central) – 20 points and 12 rebounds per game while adding nearly 200 blocks to his all time state leading career, Cozart goes out on as one of the best post players in Kentucky in the past decade. He’ll take his talents to Western Kentucky next season and will get compared to former Rick Stansbury big man Jarvis Varnado.
F Kyle Rode (Lexington Christian) – In contention for most valuable player in the state, Rode finished his career as the all time leading scorer in Fayette County history. Averaging 23 points and 9.6 rebounds in his Senior year, Kyle will go down as the best to ever play at LCA. Headed to Liberty for college, don’t be surprised if Rode is a future player of the year in the Atlantic Sun.
G David Johnson (Trinity) – David could have led the state in scoring if he chose to. He’s a dynamic play maker who is going to be a force at Louisville for however long he’s there. Yes, he missed a handful of games this year due to knee injury but you can’t leave a player of his caliber and impact off the All State team.
G Dekeyvan “KyKy” Tandy (University Heights Academy) – It won’t be long until Tandy is trying to tear rims off all over the Big East conference. KyKy is a freak athlete and a silent assassin on the floor. His shooting numbers we down this year but he is an elite talent and will live on in UHA history for his highlight plays, trip to the Sweet 16 last year and All A State title this year.
F Michael Moreno (Scott County) – Yes he missed half the regular season due to a broken foot but there is no doubting the abilities and impact of Moreno. Prior to his injury, the Cardinals were undefeated and blowing everyone out. The dropped two games without him (and one with him) but they’re the favorites to cut the nets down at Rupp this weekend and Michael will likely be the difference maker for Coach Hicks’ team.
G Dontaie Allen (Pendleton County) – You could easily claim that Allen was the State MVP in addition to being Mr. Basketball. Dontaie led the Wildcats to a 9-3 start with state leading averages of 42.5 points and 16 rebounds per game. After tearing his ACL, Pendleton finished the season 1-15 and their only win was over 1-30 St. Patrick. The first 12 games of the season saw Allen score 50+ points 6 times. That short run was one of the more impressive in the state in recent memory.
Second Team
C Dieonte Miles (Walton-Verona)
F Reid Jolly (Campbell County)
F Jacob Hobbs (Central Hardin)
G Jaago “JJ” Kalakon (Waggener)
G TreVon Smith (Taylor County)
G Jackson Harlan (Clinton County)
Third Team
F Tahj Harding (Newport)
G Korbin Spencer (Elliott County)
G Derrin Boyd (Caldwell County)
G Carter Baughman (Mercer County)
G Connor Guthrie (Mayfield)
G Jordan Graham (George Rogers Clark)
Honorable Mention:
G Blake Butler (Jeffersontown)
G Noah Back (Perry County Central)
G Kobe Poole (Breckinridge County)
G Keegan Brewer (DeSales)
F Anthony Adkins (LaRue County)
G Diablo Stewart (Scott County)
F Trey Meister (Scott)
G Juanya Frank (Frankfort)
G Dakota Walden (Daviess County)
G JJ Ramey – South Laurel
