Nate Goodlow 2020 Del City
Goodlow has been the go-to guy for Del CIty all year so he knew his role going into the weekend. Be aggressive and look to score especially in transition.
In their second matchup against Northwest Classen, Goodlow was struggling to hit a shot from the perimeter. He didn’t let that affect his defensive playmaking ability. The talented wing got a breakaway steal for a layup and he went on a roll from there.
He scored 16 points and he created other opportunities for his teammates to score as well.
Davion Warden 2020 Northwest Classen
There is not a player in the state that plays harder than Warden. The 2020 wing was all over the place this weekend and his motor allowed for him to make opportunities for himself to score.
Warden can put the ball on the floor and finish with contact but he can also spot up and knock down jump shots. As NWC’s best player, Warden knew that he would be circled on the opposing team’s scouting report so he knew the defenses would focus on him.
He continued to score anyhow due to his physical frame and skill level. Against Del City, Warden scored 19 points and shot an efficient 8-15 from the field.
Dyson Plumley 2019 El Reno
Plumley is one of most dynamic scorers in 5A and he made that clear this weekend. In their second round matchup against the highly favored Tulsa Memorial Chargers, Plumley gave the Indians confidence that they could win because they knew they had a guy who could score against anybody.
Plumley scored 17 points against the Chargers in a very competitive game that came down to the wire. The game was closer than many predicted for many reasons but his ability to get a bucket was a huge weapon for El Reno’s ability to get up early.
Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t hold onto the lead but Plumley’s performance against top tier team full of talent was impressive.
Keylan Boone 2019 Tulsa Memorial
Keylan can sometimes go underrated when it comes to the Boone twins but on the court he has stepped up his game and he led a major Memorial comeback against El Reno.
Boone used his length and solid ball handling ability to get to his spots on the floor where he felt comfortable to score. He hit the first basket of the game with a spot up three.
Boone showed glimpses of what he could be at Oklahoma State with his ability to hit pull up jumpers and get to the lane and earn some free throws.
The Tulsa Memorial Chargers are headed to yet another 5A State Championship game and alot of it has to do with Keylan Boone scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Antonio Gordon 2019 Lawton Ike
Gordon is one of best scorers in the state not to mention he is 6’9 and can hit shots from the perimeter. Ike made it to another state tournament led by Gordon. He is a matchup issue every time he steps on the floor and he showed that against Northwest Classen in the first round.
Gordon has some offensive versatility that D1 coaches are looking for in their power forward position. Against NWC, Gordon scored on the block using post moves or turnaround jumpers.
On the perimeter he either got spot up opportunities or he took his man out on the perimeter and drove past him to get to the rim.
Gordon finished with 21 points Thursday night and even though Lawton Ike couldn’t pull out the victory, the senior big man showed his entire offensive repertoire.
