They will be playing on the Under Armour Circuit this summer and are a must watch at any tournament. College coaches take note of this team as I believe every one of these players has the potential to play D1 basketball. While 5 of their players already have offers, I expect them all to receive an offer by the end of the summer. I will admit that I do have high expectations for this team and am making some pretty big claims about them but look at the talent on this team.
Matur Dhal 6’10 F Paradise Honors (Current Offers: NAU, UC Riverside)
Matur has improved his game, he is still a bit raw but working with Vaughn Compton and Jeff Becker all summer will make quick work of that. Dhal is very good defensively and is making strides offensively, working on his low post moves and being more physical. Dhal is also quite the athlete, by far being the fastest runner on this team.
DaRon Holmes 6’9 F Millennium (Current Offers: Minnesota, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, New Mexico, Cal, ASU, GCU)
DaRon Holmes has no ceiling right now. He will go as high as he is willing to work for. He is super athletic and long. He is working on becoming more of a wing than post up big so that he is more versatile. Holmes is also a monster defensively, blocking 13 shots in the 5A Quarterfinals.
Carter Van Hammond 6’9 F Perry
CVH is as scrappy of a big that I’ve ever seen. He fights hard on every possession and for every rebound. He has a pretty solid post game and is decent from mid-range. I’d like to see him improve his shooting and handles to become more of a threat.
JT Elder 6’7 F Cienega
JT Elder is the youngest player of the bunch, being 15. Despite his young age, he is still quite the prospect. JT Elder can do a little bit of everything and is a tough defensive assignment while playing on the wing. He has shown me a high IQ and passing vision despite being so young.
D’Marco Dunn 6’4 G Marana
Dunn is probably the best scorer on the team. He is super long and fast, making it hard for defenders to keep him in front of them. Whether its shooting three’s, mid-range, or attacking the basket, Dunn is going to get his points.
Kiran Oliver 6’3 G Shadow Ridge
Oliver is super athletic and is working on becoming more of a polished prospect. Last time I saw him play, he was still very raw but you can tell that he has been working on his skills. He reminds me a lot of Jackson Ruai from Amphi being about the same height, long, and super athletic with incredible jumping ability.
Jalen Scott 6’2 G Paradise Honors (Current Offers: NAU, UC Riverside)
Jalen Scott is a true combo guard. He can go and get his own points or dish out some assists, as he averaged 6.2 assists per game this season. He is also good at applying constant pressure defensively, averaging 3 steals a game this season.
Brett Hardt Jr. 6’0 G Rancho Solano Prep (Current Offers: Idaho State)
Brett is a very smart guard who’s role was to score the ball this season, averaging 13 points and 3 assists per game. However, I think his role on this team will be to get the offense moving and create shots for teammates, which I think he is very good at doing. Don’t get me wrong, Hardt can score the ball effectively. He is a very good mid-range and 3 point shooter.
Derick Kaps 6’0 G Mountain View
Derick Kaps is also a very good point guard prospect. He is a combo guard who can push the tempo and attack the basket or dish it out to open teammates. Kaps is very athletic and is very good at finishing at the rim, using his athleticism and creativity to finish over bigs.
Justus Jackson 5’10 G Millennium (Current Offers: GCU)
Justus has some very tight handles and can get hot from deep. I’m not talking about getting hot from 3, I’m talking about hitting it from the volleyball line with consistency. Just like everyone on the team, Justus is freakishly athletic and can put down some impressive dunks despite his size.
This team is loaded with some freakish length and athleticism. They are going to be a problem on the Under Armour Circuit and a nightmare in transition. I expect them to put on a show every game they play and earn some serious college offers this summer.
