Quincey Jewett-Rangeview
Jewett was a huge part of what Rangeview was able to accomplish this season and really made himself known state wide with his performance during the 2019 State Tournament. During the tournament he averaged 11.8pts and 13rebs including a big 22 rebounds performance in a win over Mountain Vista in the Great 8 game. Time and time again Quincey was at the right spot for finishes at the rim and also gave his team multiple opportunities to either start the fast break or get a second chance. Jewett has a motor that is endless and was surely a unspoken leader for the Raiders who helped them capture a state championship. He was the MVP for the season and exactly why he ended up on First Team All State as well.
Christopher Speller- Rangeview
The tournament was definitely Christopher Speller’s coming out party. He controlled everything and was a huge reason as to why Rangeview is now state champs. He put up 15pts, 5.2rebs and 2.5ast in his 4 game tournament span and was able to boost his points and rebounds per game from his season averages. Christopher was undoubtedly the MVP for the Raiders. He got to the rim at will on top of stepping up and knocking down big time free throws to seal both the Final 4 and Championship games. Speller will have a high anticipated Senior season with plenty to prove and with all of the attention he will be getting this summer he will have to up his game to defend the crown.
Tanner Giles-Chaparral
Tanner has played the perfect glue role for Chaparral during his first three years and this season he took it up a notch. During the tournament he put together his most spectacular run and got recognition as a top player in the state. He put up 13.7pts, 2.6rebs, 1.8ast and 1.8stls and was the main reason that the Wolverines was able to get by ThunderRidge in their comeback victory in the Final 4. Tanner’s skill set makes him one of the the toughest covers at the guard spot. He is able to score in multiple ways, keeps his head up to find the open man and he also showed that he is a willing defender that can alter the game on both ends of the court.
Dayne Prim- Grandview
Dayne seems to have a great season every year but when it’s tournament time, it’s Dayne time. He puts up monster numbers and showcases exactly what makes him different. Grandview suffered a difficult loss when big man, Caleb McGill, went down with a broken wrist. His injury left Dayne carry more of the load for Grandview and he did just that. In three games Dayne averaged 17pts and 8rebs which included a 21 point and 9 rebound outing in the Great 8 against Rangeview and he is a big man that really stood out in his time over the year and will be a yearly fix that many will miss around the state next year.
Kenny Foster- Smoky Hill
Kenny Foster has been a problem for teams since his freshmen year and has only gotten better. Every year Kenny has improved his game and the numbers have followed as he has made his team better in so many ways. and this years tournament was no different. In 3 games he averaged 21.3pts which ended with a tough loss to Mountain Vista in the Great 8. What made Kenny’s year so special is what he was able to accomplish with such a young team that rallied behind their big man. He signed to play at the University of Wyoming but he gave his all this season and showed that he is not only a scorer but also rebounds and sets up teammates as well. This was his most complete season to date he showed exactly why he was the Gatorade Player of the Year in the tourney.
