Bogan vs St. Laurence (St. Laurence Sectional Semi)
While many are looking ahead to a potential Bogan/Morgan Park clash on Friday we have this one circled as a potential upset. St. Laurence will be playing on their home floor which is a huge advantage. They have a backcourt of Jeremiah Williams and Trey Davis who have taken it to new heights as juniors. Bogan has more depth and power up front led by Rashaun Agee along with dynamic senior guards Tiger Booker and Jeremiah Washington.
4A
Simeon vs Marian Catholic (Eisenhower Sectional Semi)
Two of the best programs in the state will battle once again in March. Simeon escaped a tight one on Friday against Brother Rice. The Wolverines seem to be clicking at the right time and you never count out Rob Smith’s group this time of year. They don’t rely on one guy to win games, but for them to advance Antonio Reeves will probably need a big game. Ahron Ulis will look to once again solidify his place among the premier guards in the state. The junior has been dynamic all year both scoring and dishing the rock. This Marian Catholic squad has length, defense, and rebounding. Should be a fun one!
Whitney Young vs York (Proviso West Sectional Semi)
Based on college talent this one isn’t close as Whitney Young boasts a handful of D1 recruits including their Big Three of Myles Baker, DJ Steward, and Tyler Beard. York is a team that captured their 32 team holiday tournament crown in December. They can play different styles and are super disciplined. Sam Walsh, Nick Kosich, Erik Cohn, and Nate Shockey will give everything they got to knock off the Dolphins.
Harlem vs South Elgin (Rockford Sectional Semi)
This game might not sound super intriguing, but we have our eyes on a trio of unsigned seniors. Harlem’s Treye Tucker is one of the most fun guards to watch in the state with his playmaking ability. For South Elgin Drake Montgomery caught our eye in the fall and forward Vincent Miszkiewicz recently landed his first D1 offer while creating buzz late in the process.
Waukegan vs Fremd (Waukegan Sectional Semi)
Can Waukegan take the next step? This has been the question for the last two years. Wednesday night on their home floor they will have their legacies in their own hands. Fremd is known for their March success by getting games to their pace. Waukegan needs to get out and run with their superior athleticism while feeding their star senior Bryant Brown.
