The 4A state tournament kicked off on Thursday at Pacific University in Forest Grove with four action packed game.  We recap the games & take a peak at Friday's semifinal games both pitting match ups between the Cowapa League & the Oregon West Conference.

QUARTERFINAL WRAP UP:

Banks 51    Marist 38

The Braves jumped up to a big halftime lead, held off a Marist rally by making their free throws down the stretch & pulled away late for a 13 point win.  6'8 senior post Blake Gobel lead Banks with 16 points & 9 rebounds & 6'4 junior wing Jacob Slifka shook off a rough shooting night from the field to 9/10 at the line on his way to a 13 point 7 rebound performance.  For Marist, guard JJ Anderson knocked down four 3's on his way to a 14 point game.

 

Woodburn  55      Marshfield   30

The Bulldogs got ahead early & never looked back as they cruised to an easy victory to clinch their berth in the state semifinals for the first time since 1995.  As usual, senior guard RJ Veliz showed the way for Woodburn, with 22 points 8 rebounds, & 2 steals.  Guard
