4A State Tournament Central: The Final Four
Below is a roundup from the 2019 OSSAA 4A State Tournament games from the State Fair Park.
Final Four: Heritage Hall 74 | John Marshall 31.
From the moment Trey Alexander hit a 35-foot jumper in the first three seconds of the game, you could tell John Marshall was debilitated and they played like it. The Bears had absolutely no answer for the Chargers in the first half and it got worse in the second.
John Marshall didn’t appear to be comfortable as Heritage Hall scouted them perfectly. Alexander finished with 21 points and pulled down 9 rebounds, while William McDonald added 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Jack Spanier has been the sharpshooter for the Chargers through both state games, finishing with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from distance on Friday night.
Heritage Hall will play Kingfisher in the 4A state championship game at 7:30 P. M, on Saturday evening.
Final Four: Kingfisher 58 | Holland Hall 23
Kingfisher didn’t play their best basketball on Thursday night against Elgin but made up for it on Friday against Holland Hall. The play of Matthew Stone had a great game and the Yellowjackets star freshman Bijan Cortes controlled the tempo of the game, which is highly impressive for a player his age.
Stone finished with 16 points, Trey Green added 10 and Cortes scored 8.
Kingfisher will face a highly anticipated championship game with Heritage Hall that should be more of an entertaining game than their previous ones. The game is at 7:30 P. M. on Saturday evening.
