South Central HS Junior Forward Dayron Sharpe: Roy Williams dropped into to see his 2020 recruit take home his first state championship and dominate the game in every type of way. He blocked shots, rebounded the ball, scored in multiple ways and did just about everything you could ask of a player to help lead his team to victory.
Farmville Central Junior Guard Justin Wright: He has been the leader of this team pretty much all season long and the state championship game was no different. Whenever his team needed a play, he was there to make one, he provided timely buckets which helped to keep Farmville in control of the game. Knocking down shots from deep, getting into the paint and scoring through contact or even pitching the ball ahead for easy buckets were all things he did well.
Farmville Central Junior Guard Samage Teel: In just his first season at Farmville, he made some good strides and stepped up in some moments where his team needed him too. He has the ability to knock down shots and beat his man off the dribble, he started off the game a bit slower but as time went on, he only got better.
Farmville Central Sophomore Forward Leontae Moye: Foul trouble early on limited the amount of time that he can be on the floor but he showed some flashes of how good he can be and what he brings to the team. Of course he can score the ball in a few different ways but rebounding and blocking shots are where he made the highest amount of impact.
Farmville Central Sophomore Guard Terquavion Smith: This youngster has star potential without a doubt, he plays the game with a confidence and is wired to score the ball at a high level. The game was held at NC State where he has already made a commitment to play college basketball and his future coach was sitting sideline checking him out. Of course he will need to add to his frame muscle wise over the next two years but the skillset and potential is clearly evident.
Farmville Central Sophomore Rashae Owens: Every championship team needs a player that is going to do whatever it takes to help their team win, even if it doesn’t include scoring. He made plays time and time again that are what we call ‘‘winning plays’’, offensive rebounds, coming up with loose balls and put back layups where all things we saw from him.
Forest Hills Sophomore Forward Jamylan Blakeney: He came up with a double/double on the night with 15 points and 10 rebounds ,even though he didn’t have a great day shooting the ball, he still found ways to impact the game. Prospect wise he has plenty of upside and will be one for D1 programs to keep a close eye on as time goes on, he’s a legit 6’7 with the skillset to play on the wing as he can score on multiple levels as well as defend multiple positions.
