Early on in the playoffs he took on a facilitator role, getting everybody involved and not necessarily looking to get his own offense a ton. However in the final two rounds, he has been very aggressive to score the ball at a high level and he showed his ability to get just about anywhere he wanted when he wanted.
West Charlotte HS Senior Guard Carter Jernigan: His performance this game was not one of his best but that shouldn’t over shadow what he’s done all season. The 6’1 guard has shown his ability to not only score the ball but also defend at a pretty high level in some games, the next step for him will be to perform at the same level consistently each game.
West Charlotte HS Senior Devontez Walker: Brings a toughness to his team that every squad needs, he is a football player as well so it makes sense as to why he is fine with playing the game in a physical manner. He shows the ability to make plays with the ball as well as making plays off the ball offensively but you have to love his effort on the defensive end.
South Central HS Senior Guard Jahzeer Baker: One of the more underrated players in the state of North Carolina, he has consistently played well and this game was no different. He helped run the team in multiple ways, facilitating and giving the squad timely buckets when needed. The lefty can shoot the ball well, has good ball handling skills and just brings a confidence to the team that infectious that gets the whole team going.
Forest Hills Senior Guard Nas Tyson: Clearly he is the leader of this squad and there were moments in the game where it seemed as if he would be able to will his team to a win. He can score the ball at a high level and has solid size for a college level guard at about 6’1-6’2, he showed that he is a player that doesn’t shy away in big moments at all.
Forest Hills Senior Forward Trey Belin: Was solid for his squad throughout, can step out and make plays from the midrange as well as play through contact inside the paint. 17 points and 7 rebounds was his final stat line but what he brings to the team simply cannot be measured by a statline alone.
Farmville Central Senior Guard Rande Harper: Rande is a high flyer and we got to see that on full display during this game, he made some plays above the rim on both ends and got the bench as well as the crowd on their feet and out of their seats. The energy and intensity he brings was just what his team needed in this situation as they were looking for a player to give them a nice spark off the bench.
