This being the first 2022 class update, we have had kids come from unranked to highly ranked and others have made moderate movements up the rankings. Here are 2022’s top ranked shooting guards and combo guards as of the first class rankings update:
- Brandon Rayzer-Moore, Jeffersontown – We’ve already covered Brandon in two of our rankings breakdowns this week but we cannot stress enough the potential the young man possesses. If he continues to fill out and develop his game, he’s a mid major D1 type of talent at worst.
- Jerone Morton, George Rogers Clark – The smooth lefty has developed a ton over the course of the season and could end up as one of the top players in the class by the end of their high school careers. Jerone keeps improving and will be one of the best players in the 10th region next season if he can keep improving and start to hit weights this offseason.
- Andru Markham, Fern Creek – Markham is still in the transition from middle school center to high school guard and his lack of perimeter shooting shows that. Andru played a increasing role over the course of the year for the Tigers and should be a big part of their success in the next 3 years. As part of a younger team this season, he was thrown into the fire and performed admirably. The game action he saw this season should speed up his development.
- Turrell Cleaves, Jr. – Cleaves may have more potential than any guard in the class and that’s saying a lot. Turrell checks a lot of boxes with his length, skill and athleticism. What he needs to do over the course of the summer is work on playing with a motor all the time. With the type of potential Cleaves shows, he could be an impact player next season for Butler if he develops the motor to go with his other attributes.
- Miles Franklin, Trinity – Look for Franklin to go from role player to star next year for the Rocks. Coming out of a season where he played a smaller role for a veteran Trinity team, Miles should expect to make huge strides over the next 9 months before his Sophomore season. Gifted with the “it” factor, you can see flashes of stardom from Franklin once every couple of games. Like Cleaves, with some development and growth, Miles Franklin can be one of the best players in the city of Louisville next season.
