In a 2 part series, we will break down some of the top point guards and shooting guards to watch in the sophomore class. The strength of this class is in the 3-5 positions, but there are multiple Division 1 prospects and a handful of smaller college prospects as well.
2021 Guards to Watch:
2021 6’1 PG Nolan Hickman, Seattle Rotary (Eastside Catholic HS) – The top point guard in the sophomore class showed no signs of letting up this winter. When the game was on the line, he wanted the ball in his hands. He is an aggressive guard that is always looking to make plays, whether it is looking for his own shot, or setting up his teammates. Nolan is a clear-cut D1 prospect. His recruitment should heat up even more playing in the 17u EYBL.
2021 6’4 SG Noah Pepper, Team LaVine (Selah HS) – Noah was tough as nails all winter long. His growing number of charges taken was one of the highlights of the winter. He is a flat out competitor that will do anything to win. He is very strong and he can get his own shot off. Noah does a little bit of everything on the floor and he is the type of player you want to have on your team. He will star on Team LaVine’s 17u team, playing on the adidas Gauntlet. *Feature image
2021 6’4 SG John Christofolis, WA Supreme (O’Dea HS) – John’s high school season was aggravated by a foot injury and he had to sit and watch O’Dea win the state championship, but make no mistake, John is still one of the better players in the state. He has beautiful shooting form and he attracts a face guard at times, because he is a real scoring threat. John currently holds offers from UW, San Diego and interest from lots of other D1 programs. Coaches can find the sharpshooter on the Under Armour circuit with WA Supreme’s 17u team this spring.
2021 6’4 SG Ja’Von Ervin, Team LaVine (Lakes HS) – A strong off guard that can drive and score, or convert on the open outside shot. Ja’Von is a hard working player that will do the little things to help his team win. He is capable of scoring 20-25 points on any given night at the high school level. He will suit up for Team LaVine’s 16u team.
2021 6’1 G Omari Maulana, WA Supreme (Life Christian Academy) – A dynamic scoring guard that really looks to make plays off the bounce. Omari has been one of the better guards in the state for some time and he will look to grow his name and game out on the circuit playing with Washington Supreme’s 16u team.
