10) Ismael Plet | 6’7” | Virginia Episcopal School (#25 Overall)
Plet is a guy who may be stuck between positions but his physical and athletic tools are tough to match. He has great strength at 6’7”, and he’s an athletic guy on both ends who can finish above the rim and through contact but also can switch on guards and stay in front in transition or on pick-and-rolls. He has great length and he’s able to put it on the deck and get downhill, although his perimeter skill set still needs some fine tuning.
9) Sasha Glushkov | 6’11” | Blue Ridge (#21 Overall)
Glushkov is a guy who has the skill set to be a division one athlete, the Russian native just needs to work on his strength and getting used to the speed of the game here. At 6’11”, he’s a step out four man that is money from beyond the arc and is an underrated athlete as far as moving his feet and running the floor. As he gets stronger he should become a better defender and rebounder moving forward.
8) Andre Screen | 6’10” | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes (#19 Overall)
Every time you go to see Screen he just gets better and better, and despite coming off of the bench for the state champion Saints they still made a concerted effort to get him the ball when he’s in the game and play to his strengths. He has great touch both in the paint and out to 15 feet for his size, he can score over either shoulder and his mobility has improved dramatically. With his rate of improvement college coaches should not wait around for this one.
7) Burke Smith | 6’10” | Trinity Episcopal (#17 Overall)
Another skilled big man who has shown a lot of improvement over the past couple of years, Smith is a stretch big with some toughness to him. He can shoot the deep ball at a high clip, he can seal and finish and he can run the floor and rebound on both ends. He’s improved his mobility A LOT, and that allows him to become more of a threat offensively and less of a liability defensively.
6) Jake Berry | 6’9” | Bishop O’Connell (#16 Overall)
A two sport star who shines in baseball as well, Berry is that elite glue guy who is best on a team that already has talent. He can shoot the basketball, he’s strong and physical and he has a high IQ which allows you to plug and play him in different scenarios and situations. If he chooses basketball and focuses solely on that you could see a big jump in his improvement.
5) Dowar Jiokolow | 6’8” | Flint Hill (#14 Overall)
When it comes to the modern style big man, that’s what Jiokolow embodies. He isn’t physically dominating in the paint with strength but he’s versatile, plays well in transition and is hard to matchup with. He can put the ball on the deck in transition and has good vision and passing ability, he can shoot the jumper and he can guard multiple positions as well.
4) Jeriah Coleman | 6’11” | Great Bridge Christian (#8 Overall)
Another project that is starting to turn the corner, Coleman has unbelievable physical traits and he got better throughout the season every game. He has incredible length and a good frame allowing him to contest shots without fouling, he can get up and down the floor well and he’s a lefty which makes him harder to defend. He’s someone I’m excited to see this summer because his potential is through the roof.
3) Dylan Cardwell | 6’9” | Oak Hill Academy (#6 Overall)
On a stacked Oak Hill team, Cardwell wasn’t a starter but was one of the first guys off the bench and shows that he has an unbelievable ceiling moving forward. At 6’9” with a wingspan that expands that, Cardwell is a gifted athlete who’s quick off his feet and can challenge shots at the rim with ease. He has a solid skill set but his ability to impact the game in other ways than scoring is second to none.
2) Henry Coleman | 6’8” | Trinity Episcopal (#4 Overall)
He’s big, he’s physical and he never stops playing hard. Coleman is one of the most recruited players in the class not just for these reasons but because he’s also a very smart and well spoken young man. He was one of the most productive players in the state, averaging a double-double and guarding multiple positions and being the leader of the team. His skill set continues to improve, and he showed that he’s a much better passer than previously known.
1) Mark Williams | 6’10” | Norfolk Academy (#3 Overall)
Williams has all of the physical tools outside of strength, and he has a unique skill set to go along with it that includes the ability to shoot, the ability to put it on the deck in transition and finish over top with either hand. He has good timing and length as a shot blocker and surprisingly enough at his size he has great feet that allow him to switch and corral ball handlers. He has soft touch out to the three-point line, he gets after it on the glass and always looks like he’s having a great time while playing. His ceiling is as high as any big I’ve seen in VA over the past few years.
