He transferred to Bishop Walsh from Richard Montgomery and is getting high major looks from various schools in different power 5 conferences. He talked about the move he made and the overall success of his season.
“So we started off a very new team, only six of us have played together before. We came in and focused on making good team chemistry and enjoying our time at Bishop Walsh because it is the first year all of us are here and the first year the school really tried to build something big.”
He and his teammates led Bishop Walsh to their first win the Alhambra tournament since 2011 on Friday against Mt. St. Joe’s. Oliver had 19 points and 10 rebounds. It was a very special win for the school as they have not won a game in this tournament in 8 years.
“2011 was the last time the school won a game at this tournament so it just means that we were able to give back to the community that took us in so well and showed us love so it was a really big win and we just have to get another one tomorrow.”
We asked Oliver to describe his game when he is at his best, “When I am moving, when I am moving around the court, when I am helping my guys, when I am on defense and helping my guys, when I am help side, when I am on the ball and just when I kind of have my hands in everything, that is when I feel like I am at my best.”
As mentioned above, there are a boatload of high major schools keeping close tabs on Oliver’s talents. One of the best teams in the country this season has been Tennessee and they are supposed to come in Monday to watch him practice.
“Right now I hear their interest is high enough for them to come and watch me practice so I am really excited, I mean it is Tennessee we are talking about, that is amazing to me and I have still just not really wrapped my mind around all this because I am trying to focus on the end of my season too.”
A particular ACC school in Wake Forest offered Oliver this past Winter and he seems to have a good relationship with them, “ “Yeah they text me often, Coach Randolph will text me a good amount and I enjoy that.”
As the season is winding down it is time for Oliver to start speeding up the process and scheduling visits.
“After this tournament is when I am going to start looking at where I want to visit.”
