Overview:
Over the course of the last two years, these two programs have really figured out each other having played during the season in a holiday tournament. Blackhawk Christian has taken both of those wins but in the State Finals, everything is back to square.
Looking before the season, these were the two teams most would have picked to be here. From their history to how they are currently constructed, there is a lot of sense to these teams being here and this will be a battle. Their game this year went into overtime before Blackhawk pulled away late.
Barr-Reeve is the more tested program over the last decade and is much more physical and tough than any team Blackhawk would have seen at the 1A level. The counter to that is they just don’t play many 1A teams. Blackhawk is built like a good 4A team with a High-Major player in Caleb Furst and a few other college level prospects on their roster in Frankie Davidson and Zane Burke.
This game could go a few different directions. Last time, it was more of a shot-making game with the score trending up. But, this could just as well be a lower total game. If the score reaches above 60 points, Blackhawk should be given the advantage as they are more suited for those games. Barr-Reeve might like to keep this game close and keep the efficiency of the offense more of a separation between the two teams. Going in, this has to be an advantage towards Blackhawk Christian but it was only an overtime game in December so don’t be shocked by anything.
Prediction: Blackhawk Christian 69, Barr-Reeve 57
