2A
Nashville vs Teutopolis (SIU Super Sectional)
These have been the top two southern Illinois 2A squads all season. We have seen both numerous times with each having their fair share of players that will play at the next level. Watch the battle in the backcourt with Dawson Smith and Bryce Bultman who are both jumbo combo guards that can take over games at the 2A level. Winner of this game has a real shot at a state title.
Orr vs Leo (Joliet Central Super Sectional)
These are the top Chicago 2A squads. Both more than held their own against 4A competition in the Public and Catholic leagues during the regular season. Tujautae Williams and Dachaun Anderson are two of the best unsigned seniors in the state who put together monster final campaigns. Now they want to finish it off in style with a trip to Peoria.
3A
Springfield Southeast vs Champaign Central (Springfield Southeast Sectional Semi)
Southeast and Champaign Central have been two of the premier programs in central Illinois over the last few years. Southeast has the star in Terrion Murdix, but the x-factors could be a pair of sophomores in James Dent and Khailieo Terry.
DePaul Prep vs Carmel (Grayslake Central Sectional Semi)
DePaul Prep has been pointing toward this season for a while with a stacked senior laden squad led by star Perry Cowan. Carmel will look to pull off the upset behind their one two punch of sophomore Kimahri Wilson and senior Johnny Roeser.
4A
Belleville West vs Alton (Played at Edwardsville HS in Moline Sectional Semi)
These two teams battled it out all season long. This will be the only one that truly matters as the winner will advance. Belleville West is the defending state champs and have the reigning Mr. Basketball in EJ Liddell. Alton will not be afraid as they are playing their best ball of the season and Donovan Clay is on fire!
Bloom vs Homewood Flossmoor (Eisenhower Sectional Semi)
This south suburban battle will be a highly anticipated matchup. Both squads have a ton of depth. Bloom has been toward the top of the rankings all year with a junior loaded squad with four D1 talents in Donovan Newby, Keshawn Williams, Dante Maddox, and Martice Mitchell. HF has the athleticism and fire power to match with seniors up and down the roster. Isaac Stanback and Maurion Scott bring intensity and athleticism to the table in this game.
Deerfield vs Stevenson (Waukegan Sectional Semi)
Deerfield has been on a roll lately getting great play out of center Brandon Leib. Stevenson has overachieved all season with a well-coached, disciplined, and smart team.
Evanston vs Glenbrook South (Niles North Sectional Semi)
Glenbrook South knocked off Evanston earlier this season. Can they do it again? Evanston has the talent to make it back to Peoria and do damage there if they can get past this one led by Southern Illinois commit Lance Jones.
Bolingbrook vs West Aurora (Aurora East Sectional Semi)
Although it isn’t their home gym West Aurora will still get to play this game in Aurora which will be an advantage. Bolingbrook has been lying in the weeds all season not being overly flashy, but this is their time of year and they have stars in Joseph Yesufu and Tyler Cochran. Traevon Brown and Marquise Walker will counter in this one.
Curie vs Riverside Brookfield (Proviso West Sectional Semi)
Curie has quite a path ahead of them if the CPS champs want to capture the state title. Next up is a trap game against Riverside Brookfield. If they are looking ahead to a potential Whitney Young title game they could get upset. Curie has proven to be a dominant team all season so we don’t expect that, but worth monitoring as RB can hang with just about anyone when they are clicking.
