Richland jumped out to a big lead early in the first quarter, draining threes from all over the floor. They led 14-2 just like that, but things changed pretty quickly a couple minutes into the second quarter. Once Federal Way scored a couple of baskets, it allowed them to set up into their press. They forced Richland into multiple turnovers and converted on the other end. By the end of the half Federal Way’s run gave them a 42-29 lead. The onslaught of pressure continued and the Eagles would blow Richland out 81-58.
Some of the top performers:
2019 6’4 G Cole Northrup (Richland HS) – The tough scoring guard is physical, skilled and confident. He gave Richland 14 points.
2019 6’6 G Garrett Steufert (Richland HS) – The strong off-guard competed from start to finish. He is a threat to score from anywhere on the floor and he did his absolute best to handle Federal Way’s pressure. Garrett led Richland with 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
2019 6’10 SF Jaden McDaniels (Federal Way HS) – Jaden was the unicorn on the court as expected. Jaw dropping blocks and dunks and then he’d show off a feathery smooth stroke from 20 feet out. The McDonald’s All American scored 17 points and scooped up 5 boards.
2020 6’8 PF Tari Eason (Federal Way HS) – Tari was lethal on the break as expected and showed off a nice turnaround short range jumper from the baseline. He altered and blocked multiple Richland attempts on the perimeter and inside the paint. In the second half, FW posted him up a lot and Richland had no answer inside. He led the Eagles with 22 points and 7 rebounds.
2019 6’4 W Jishai Miller (Federal Way HS) – The competitive wing player brought energy right from the get go and helped give Federal Way some mental edge when Richland went on their early run. He mixed things up and it gave The Eagles some extra motivation to get it rolling. Jishai chipped in 14 points.
2019 6’0 G Jalen Womack (Federal Way HS) – Jalen was aggressive looking for his shot throughout most of the game and he poured in 11 points to go along with 3 assists.
Federal Way will play the winner of Kentridge and Federal Way at 5:30 in the semifinal. Richland will play the loser of the same game in a consolation bracket.
