Friday night in Sacramento California, West Campus high took on Marysville High. With high emotions the stands filled quickly as the boys warmed up for their 7 o’clock tip off. After a quick lay up from Marysville the West Campus Warriors went on a 12-0 run started off by super junior Quincy Taylor. After a quick timeout from Marysville, the flood gates opened back up. The Warriors had Marysville scrabbling trying to regroup but it was too late. Start of the second quarter the Warriors started where they left off behind recently eligible Fredrick Burton 6’2 junior guard and 6’4 freshman Leo Wagner. Leo started off the second quarter with 2 3’s and a quick 2 while Fredrick was face-lifting to other teammates and getting easy layups. Fred finished with 11 points 4 assist and 6 rebounds and Leo finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Maurice Simmons also added a quiet 14 points to the teams total.With a 79-47 blow out win the Warriors will take on Sonora in the teams semifinal game. With one more win they will be playing for a championship in the Golden 1 Center. The Warriors are not foreign to the big stage coming off a C.I.F section championship last year in the same division lead by Quincy Taylor the Warriors have definitely been in this spot before.
It won’t be easy, traveling to Sonora who has a 25-4 record and also a 9-1 league finish. With Junior Guard Austin Patterson who is averaging 22.5 ppg and also has 585 points on the year. This will be one of the top playoff games of the year. Check back in on Tuesday to see who came out on top
