But this week’s schedule of games includes a few conference games that will effectively act as elimination games for league championship races. And a few out of conference matchups were lots of next level talent will be on display. I give you the Previews and Predictions for week eleven.
CHCA (13-2, 10-2) vs. North College Hill (11-6, 9-3) Monday 7:30pm- This is a big week for Coach Shannon Minor squad as they have a chance to catapult themselves into 1st in the MVC-Scarlet. And they have a chance to do it against the two teams that they are chasing in the conference with CHCA up 1st. NCH lost the 1st meeting back on December 7th 55-46, a game in which rising two-sport junior Cole Fisher who finished with 21 points and 9 rebounds in the win.
Prediction: CHCA
NCH (11-6, 9-3) vs. Clark Montessori (11-8, 10-3) Tuesday 7:30pm- If the Trojans can handle business against CHCA Monday evening then this could be a contest for 1st place in the conference. 2019 F Marlin Lyons has been one of the hottest players in the city over the last month, scoring in double-digits in 8 of Clark’s last 9 games per the Miami Valley Conference website having scored at least 20 points in 5 of those contest.
Prediction: Clark
Winton Woods (11-7) vs. #5 Hughes (14-3, 7-1) Tuesday 7:30pm- Solid non-conference matchup that will showcase a ton of talent that has the interest of many next level programs. Expect a fast pace game with a lot of athletic plays being made. The team that can capitalize off the others turnovers should have the advantage.
Prediction: Hughes
Princeton (12-5, 9-3) vs. Mason (13-3, 9-3) Tuesday 7:30pm- While maybe not officially, the loser of this game will just about end their chances of a conference title. And it may not matter anyway with the way that Lakota East has been playing over the past few weeks. Guard Landen Long (2019 PHO #121) scored 26 points Friday in the Comets 8-point victory over Sycamore.
Prediction: Mason
Gamble Montessori (12-6, 7-0) vs. Oyler (7-4, 6-1) Friday 7:30pm- This is an important matchup for the newly formed CMAC-Blue division. The Gators won the first matchup of the season on December 18th by 26 and that was without 2021 guard Kaden Warner. Gamble has the talent to possibly make a serious run in the D-IV bracket this upcoming postseason.
Prediction: Gamble
Walnut Hills (12-6, 7-4) vs. Turpin (13-5, 8-3) Friday 7:30pm- The Eagles chances of hoisting the conference crown took a major on February 1st with their five point loss to Kings. While Turpin is coming off an eleven point victory over Loveland that gave them sole possession of 2nd place in the ECC. This is a must win for both teams who are chasing West Clermont for the top spot.
Prediction: Walnut Hills
#1 Purcell Marian (15-3, 7-1) vs. #1 Moeller (18-0, 4-0) Saturday 7:30pm- The number one D-III team in the state traveling up Montgomery Rd. to play the number one D-I team in the state. The Crusaders depth will definitely be a test for Purcell, whose rotation usually goes 7, maybe 8 deep.
