In Valor Christian’s 98-71 win over Chatfield it was Jack Foley who led the team in scoring. He had a huge game of 25 points as he knocked down six 3-pointers in the night to keep the crowd into it on Senior night. With so many options, Foley has not been the go-to for this team but made it a point to start out hot and continued that throughout the night in his best game of the season.
Senior Shane Shadowen had had 22 points on the night to lead Mountain View in a win over Niwot. He was aggressive and took shots for the team to keep up the pace and push it at Niwot while also recording seven steals on the night which led to easy baskets at the rim. Trey Bruschke added 20 points as he shot 60 percent from the field. He knocked down a couple of 3-pointers and was active in the passing lanes to come up with two steals as well.
Arapahoe came up with a 15-point win over Cherokee Trail behind Lane D’Agostino’s 22 points. He is a marksman from beyond the arc and opens things up with his range which creates baskets for himself at the rim as well as opens things up for others to operate. He also made sure to go inside which led to him getting to the free throw line where he converted from.
Although it came in a 55-58 loss, it was Trevor Baskin who kept Pomona in it for the night. He has been a force this season and is proving why he is one of the best players in the state as he continues to surge. Baskin finished with 26 points and was the only player to reach double digits for the Panthers. He worked inside and out hitting two 3-pointers and also finished with seven rebounds on the night as well. He has been a pleasant surprise this year and should be excited for AAU circuit where he will prove himself along a better supporting cast.
Junior Caleb Rillos from Ralston Valley came up big in the Mustangs win over Dakota Ridge with a big 20 points on the night. Rillos did a little bit of everything, he knocked down shots, got others involved, went and banged inside while being strong on the glass and defended at a high level as well. His confidence is growing and that is only a good thing for Ralston Valley.
The Smoky Hill vs. Mullen game was everything that you expected and then some. It was fireworks from both sides of the floor and then came down to a buzzer beater by Christian Davis. Davis finished with 16 points including the game winner but it was a total team effort for the Mustangs. Isaac White continued his solid league play and had 17 points but the difference in the game was Brady Parris as he led the way with 17 points and went 5-6 from beyond the arc. When he is knocking things down like that this Mullen team will be tough to beat.
On the other side it was likely Mr. Basketball this year who had the stat line of the week. Kenny Foster finished with 35 points, 14 rebounds and also had eight assists to go along with it to keep the Buffaloes in the game. He shot the ball, dunked at will and carried the load offensively as he has done all season while attempting to win the game. Both of these teams are going to be a tough out come bracket time.
