They have the best backcourt in the state with Rylan Jones (University of Utah) and Jeremy Dowdell. Region 6 not only had Highland upset the 1 seed Bountiful but they had every team in their region win.
Here is how they did it:
Highland
The Rams actually have a great tournament style team they have dynamic guards that can defend and score. They are lead by PG Liki Makaui and Christian Rich. Both of these players are college bound athletes that can play at the next level. The players that seem to get forgotten are Nate Warr a SG that can nail jumpers from al over the court, Chris Rich is another long guard that can shoot the 3-ball but he can also defend at a high level. Their biggest player who had the most impact in yesterdays upset was Jackson Hawes. He is a football bodied basketball player that frustrated his younger counterpart. Highland has some young talented players that don’t always see the floor as well.
Murray
The Spartans are a team that nobody was talking about. They mad a nice push mid season but they were written off. They have players that can go off at any time like Jalen Thompson. Jalen erruped for 20 points yesterday. Murray also has Ajak Arok, and Carson Lingwall.
East
The Leopards had a consistent effort from their entire team but kids to watch going forward that can play at the next level are Andre Mulibea, Taylor Zwick and Cook Daw. Cook has a great motor and has a long 6’7 frame. He can help any NWAC team immediately. Andre and Taylor are both college prospects.
Olympus
There were moments in yesterdays game were you might think that Olympus was a bit vulnerable. Those moments went by quickly as Rylan Jones the likely Mr. Basketball player that will suit up for the University of Utah would make his presence known. Then Jeremy Dowdell would do his thing. Jeremy Dowdell is a D1 shooter. He is still unsigned.
