22.8ppg
3.5rpg
2.9spg
3.3apg
52.1%-eFg%
41%- 3P%
81%-FT
The accolades have piled up for Treysen this season. The versatile guard has 3 games of 30 or more points this season. He recently became a member of the 1000 point club. He was named the MVL of the Belle Tournament and made the South Callaway All-Tournament Team. Additionally, he is a Roundball Elite30 Member.
When first year head coach Seth Thomas took over the Bulldog program that finished 9-17 last season, he knew that the 3 year starting point guard would be a big piece to the puzzle. After a slow start to the year as the team adjusted to a new system, the Bulldogs have caught fire. They are 10-4 since Christmas Break and will be a tough out in a loaded district that features three state ranked teams. Coach Thomas has been beyond pleased with Treysen both on and off the court. “Treysen has been a 3 year starter at South Callaway and just recently became a 1,000pt scorer. Treysen has done a tremebdous job this season leading our team, and having some of big biggest games when we needed him most. It is always tough having a new coach your last season of HS, and Treysen has done a great job embracing a new system and being a great leader for his fellow seniors and underclassman,” Thomas said. He also praises Treysen for his versatility. Known as an elite shooter from mid-range to deep, his ability to attack the rim and dime teammates makes him a gameplan nightmare for opponents in the pick and roll. He gets it done on the defensive end as well, taking pride in bringing energy on that end of the floor.
Interest is starting to pick up for the gym rat, who’s 3.9 gpa shows that he leads by example on and off the court. He is a very intriguing NAIA/D3 prospect that is absolutely worth a look. Prep Hoops caught up with Treysen and here is what he had to say about his season and his recruitment to this point:
PrepHoops: What are your overall thoughts on the season so far and how the team is looking headed into postseason play?
TG: Overall this season has been a blast but also a learning experience. Although our record is only 12-12, we have been in so many close games. We also started off really slow but we’ve made a heck of a bounce back to where we are. The postseason is going to be tough. We are the 6 seed and play a tough Southern Boone team in the first round, but I feel if we show up ready to execute the scouting report we can knock them off.
PrepHoops: Congrats on reaching the scoring milestone recently. What does it mean to you to be a member of the 1000 point club?
TG: Being able to score 1000 is a special honor. Considering I had to score half of them this year alone, it is a way I am able to see my hard work pay off and I am truly blessed to be able to play this game.
PrepHoops: How has the recruiting process been going for you so far?
TG: I do not currently have any official offers. I’ve looked into William Woods and St. Louis College of Pharmacy and I think I would be able to get some scholarship money if I attended there.
PrepHoops: Have you thought about what you want to major in?
TG: Yes, Pharmacy! That is why STLCOP is my #1. If I attend a different university, I would most likely major in Biology or Biochemistry
PrepHoops: What are the most important factors for you when you choose your next stop?
TG: Money is obviously a big factor on where I choose to go to college. I would be thrilled to get a scholarship or at least some money to play for a college basketball team. I feel there are some colleges out there who haven’t seen me play, that maybe will give me a chance on that.
