Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Julius Marble
No Texas prospect’s recruitment has picked up this semester as much as Julius Marble‘s has. The late-rising big man has been a recent target for high major schools primarily in the Big Ten and Big 12 conferences.
A 6-foot-7 power forward that is a strong interior presence, Marble is effective facing up from 17 feet and is also just as effective playing with his back to the basket. He has had a terrific senior season averaging 16 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks a game for a Dallas Jesuit team that was crowned district champions in UIL 9-6A. When reflecting on the regular season, Marble states, “I personally feel like I’ve had a great season. With a great group guys like I have, they make it easy for me to do that.”
His dominant play during the regular season has caused power five coaches to take notice. Prior to the spring semester, Marble held offers from the College of Charleston, Lehigh, Louisiana Tech, Murray State, Oral Roberts, Pepperdine, and UTSA. But as of February, Marble explains that Michigan State, Oklahoma State, and TCU have recently offered and been on him the hardest; while Illinois, Minnesota, Stanford, and Virginia Tech has also reached out and shown a great deal of interest. When talking about his recruitment, Marble says, “A lot of the coaches like my hard working mindset, the fact that I rebound, and that I’m a versatile player on both ends of the floor.”
IN JULIUS’ WORDS
Michigan State: I like Coach Izzo because he is a great guy. I look forward with building a relationship with him and seeing if Michigan State will be a good fit for me. I plan to take a visit after the season.
Oklahoma State: Coach Boynton is a great down to earth guy. I like what he’s building up there in Oklahoma State! They were the first power five school to offer me and I will take a visit up there soon too! I have spoke with former Marcus Smart YGC36 (Adidas) forward Isaac Likekele about teaming up, but we’ll see!
TCU: I really like the TCU coaching staff. Coach Dixon is also bringing relevance to the program! I haven’t visited yet, but I will soon.
When mentioning what parts of his game he needs to improve on to be ready for the next level, Marble says, “I feel I need to work on my conditioning as well as my strength in preparing for the physicality that comes with playing at a high major level.”
FINAL THOUGHTS
Marble has yet to take any visits, but plans to after his senior season concludes. As of right now he is focused on the postseason, claiming, “The team’s mindset is to take it one game at a time. So right now, it’s all about Sachse High School. Coach Hill made a key emphasis on focusing on what is about us right now and not looking too far ahead or stay worrying about the past.”
Look for Michigan State to be the favorite here given Tom Izzo’s resume and the opportunity for national exposure.
