We have taken a look at the best guards, wings and big men in the region but let’s focus on those players who have went under the radar but stood out.
Steven Croell – Broomfield
Croell is a wing with great size at 6’3 and is called upon as a go to scorer that is not afraid to put it up. He has led Broomfield in scoring at 15.7 points a game and possesses the ability to go for 30 points on any given night. Croell has a high ceiling and understands that the team’s success falls on his shoulders. He has the ability to shoot it from deep although he does not excel out there but also goes inside and finishes amongst the trees. Broomfield will have their hands full in the opening round against Palmer but if he can get going can come up with the upset.
Grant Wilkinson – Pine Creek
Hard to say that he is under the radar when he is putting up 15.6. points and 7.8 rebounds a game his senior. Year. Not only that but he is also dishing out 4.2 assists a game and is leading the team in almost every category. He is on a tear right now and does not seem to be slowing down. It will be on his shoulders to carry the team against a Fossil Ridge squad that they have a chance against. If he has a big game I expect them to advance. Pressure!
Zack Crane – Fossil Ridge
Senior wing that can shoot it and score. At ease. Started out the year scoring in bunches and slowed down to end the season. He will have to get back in the flow of things if they want to advance against a squad that is deep. This Fossil Ridge team won six of their last seven games and when he is scoring in double digits they have a good chance. Although he is at 10.8 points and 5.2 rebounds a game I expect him to have a big game scoring and give his team a chance.
Isaac White – Mullen
White is up to 11.2 points a game and is a guard that plays hard on both ends of the floor. He is capable of a big scoring game as seen when he dropped 31 points early in the season against Cherry Creek high school. He also has the ability to shoot the basketball and is a volume scorer that can get going. He plays the passing lane and is a player that takes pride in his defense and will be the X-factor for Mullen when they start their run. Finished off the year with three straight games over 15 points so looks as if he has found his rhythm.
Luke Carlson – Chatfield
Luke Carlson has been one of the most consistent players in the conference as he is putting up 14.6 points a game as well as 4.6 rebounds. He is a player that can score and that has been on display as he finished off the year with eight straight games in which he finished off the year with double-digits scoring. He opens the floor up with shooting but he also gets inside and remains aggressive and that is why he gets to the foul line so often. Chatfield is a team that is finally coming on and when they are locked in can matchup with most teams in the state. A big game from Carlson could spell a first round upset and with his scoring going as it has recently there is a chance.
