There is a lot of players left in the 2019 class that can more than hold their own on the court. Here are the top unsigned seniors going into the summer:
Emmanuel Taban (6’7 SF Apollo)
Taban has to be the most sought after unsigned senior on this list. It will be hard to find another senior with the amount of offers or interest this guy has. He currently holds offers from Nevada, Texas Tech, Wyoming, UC Santa Barbara, Southern Utah, Portland State, Kansas State, and GCU.
Carson Towt (6’7 PF Gilbert)
Carson Towt has to be one of the top breakout player of the year candidates for this season. He has demonstrated why he is a D1 talent and kind of took people by surprise with his stellar play this season. He currently has some interest from NAU.
Doc Self (5’10 PG Gilbert)
Doc Self is another strong candidate for breakout player of the year and also goes to Gilbert High School. Self has shown off his great play making ability and defense. I think he could play D1 basketball.
D’Maurian Williams (6’4 PG Westview)
Williams caped off his great high school career with another stellar season. Williams can flat out score at will. He currently holds offers from Monmouth, Idaho State, Portland State, and Montana.
Otis Frazier (6’6 SG/SF Buckeye Union)
Otis Frazier is one of the most versatile players in the entire state, let alone the class of 2019. He has improved his scoring ability and has increased his percentage from deep. Frazier currently holds offers from Drexel and Northern Colorado. However, it is note worthy that GCU assistant coaches are often spotted at his games, showing some potential interest.
Jackson Ruai (6’4 SG Amphi)
Ruai is a pure lock down defender with freak speed and athleticism. Ruai is a nightmare in transition thanks to his amazing leaping ability. Ruai currently holds offers from Utah Valley, Portland State, and UC Davis.
Josh Baker (6’1 SG McClintock)
Josh Baker is a pure bucket-getter. He can score the ball in so many ways but is most effective with his hesitation jumper. Baker has received a couple of JUCO offers and should gather up some more interest this summer.
Trent Brown (6’1 PG Pinnacle)
With the injury of Jordan Mains, Trent Brown had to step up big time and boy did he ever. Brown had an amazing season and demonstrated why he is one of the top shooters in the state. Brown currently holds offers from NAU, UIC, and Northern Colorado.
Jordan Mains (6’6 SF Pinnacle)
Unfortunately, Mains was hurt the majority of the season and I think that greatly had an affect on his recruiting. He is a very talented player and I hope he comes back fully healthy this summer. He currently holds offers from Houston Baptist, Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona, Air Force, and Akron.
Khalid Price (5’10 PG Mountain Pointe)
Price is one of the smartest point guards in the entire state. If you need a guard to run your offense exactly as coach drew it up, he’s your guy. He can also score the ball at a high level, dropping 40 points this season in one game.
BJ Burries (5’10 PG Globe)
It is odd to me that the Arizona State leader in career points is not signed yet. Frankly, I haven’t heard much about him receiving significant interest either. Burries can flat out score, it doesn’t matter what division you are in, if you end your career as the Arizona all time leading scorer, you’re a bucket.
Keaton Rodgers (6’5 SF Sandra Day O’Connor)
Rodgers continues to improve his game and I see no ceiling for this kid. He has really impressed me every time I see him play because it seems like he is always adding something new to his game. Rodgers is someone to keep an eye out for.
Lucas Elliott (6’8 PF Pusch Ridge)
Elliott is a raw prospect still but is well worth the project. Lucas is a freak athlete and is a very hard worker, committed to improving his game. He currently holds offers from Biola, Portland State, Northern Arizona, and New Mexico.
Kaleb Brown (5’10 PG Peoria)
Kaleb Brown currently has an offer from Park University and I think the NAIA/JUCO level is best for him at this point in time. However, I would not be surprised to see him go D2.
Julian Molina (5’11 PG Mountain View)
Julian Molina has been the main scoring option at Mountain View for almost his entire career there. He ended his career by hitting the 2000 point mark and still hasn’t received any significant interest. Many think he is likely to walk-on at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona.
Zach Paloma (5’10 PG Sunnyslope)
If you need a pure competitor, look no further than Paloma. It is rare to see his level of fire and competition that he brings to the floor every single game. He is a great facilitator and even better scorer. He is going to be a huge steal and make some coach look really smart.
Cassius Carmichael (6’5 SG/SF Ironwood)
Cassius Carmichael is another breakout player of the year candidate. He seemingly came out of nowhere and led his team to the best record in school history. Carmichael is very versatile and has received an offer from a local JUCO and received some interest from other JUCO’s.
