Top Players of the Week
The regular season in finally over.
Next week, district tournaments for every high school basketball team in the state of Tennessee will start and the teams journey to a state championship will be on full display. It’s important to note that some of the players on this week’s list are making their last go-around in high school basketball.
This week’s list features 21 names, and each player will play an important role in their team’s success in the postseason.
Here are my Top Players of the Week:
Chandler Lawson, Wooddale: The Oregon commit had 17 points, 17 rebounds, three blocks, and two assists in the Cardinals’ 62-55 win over Raleigh-Egypt to capture this season’s SCIAA 2A Boys City Championship.
Quintavious Bailey, Raleigh-Egypt: The junior forward had 28 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals against Wooddale. He went 11 for 20 from the field.
Deovaunta Williams, Raleigh-Egypt: The senior point guard had 15 points on 6 of 12 shooting against the Cardinals.
Sky Forest, Lausanne: The senior combo guard had 26 points and nine rebounds in the Lynx’ 62-57 win over Harding Academy on Senior Night.
Johnathan DeJurnett, Lausanne: The junior forward had 14 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks against the Lions.
Kennedy Chandler, Briarcest: The sophomore point guard had 16 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and three assists in a win against MUS.
Antavion Collum, Bartlett: The Ole Miss commit had 30 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block in the Panthers’ 68-60 win over Cordova on Senior Night.
Bruce Guy Jr., Cordova: The Iona commit had 19 points against Bartlett.
Markelion Hines, Cordova: Hines had 15 points against the Panthers.
Chandler Jackson, Christian Brothers: The freshman point guard had 21 points and six assists in the Purple Wave’s 64-46 win over St. Benedict.
Reese McMullen, Christian Brothers: McMullen had 11 points and five assists against the Eagles.
D.J. Jeffries, Olive Branch: Jeffries led the ‘Quistors with 23 points in the 72-63 win over Center Hill on Senior Night.
Joe Cooper, Olive Branch: Cooper posted a double-double (12 points, 11 assists) against the Mustangs.
Calvin Temple, Center Hill: The senior point guard had 21 points against the ‘Quistors. On Senior Night, Temple had 26 points in a win over Southaven.
Kenneth Lewis, Center Hill: Lewis had 17 points against Olive Branch. He had 18 against the Chargers.
Kevin Henry, Center Hill: Henry had 19 points against Southaven.
Samson Ruzhentsev, Hamilton Heights: The junior forward had 38 points and eight rebounds in the 81-73 road win at Wesley Christian.
Andersson Garcia, Hamilton Heights: Garcia had 13 rebounds and 10 assists against the Circuit Riders.
Jordan Rawls, Hamilton Heights: The junior point guard had 31 points and four assists in the 73-68 loss to Teays Valley.
Drew Williams, Hamilton Heights: Williams posted 11 points and four rebounds against Wesley Christian.
Bayron Matos, Hamilton Heights: The senior forward had 14 points and 10 rebounds against the Circuit Riders.
