KAMDYN CURFMAN’S SHOOTING
Kamdyn Curfman started this game off well, connecting on three of his first four attempts from behind the arc. Not only did he showcase deep range from the catch, but also showed that he can create space for his shot off the dribble. Curfman continues to prove that he is one of the elite shooters in the DMV and a solid option for high academic D1 programs that need a point guard who can shoot.
DEJEAN DESIRE’S VERSATILITY
Prep has now won four straight, and the return of Dejean Desire is a big reason why. Several times throughout this game on both ends, we saw how valuable Desire can be. The 6-foot-6 wing was aggressive on the offensive boards and helped his team earn several extra possessions wit his unrelenting effort. Desire also did a good job defensively on the Saints bigs, but was also active and alert in help situations. His weak side block with under a minute to go should not be overlooked as it was a big reason why Prep gained possession with the score tied.
ZION RUSSELL’S POTENTIAL
Zion Russell is establishing himself as one of the better all-around guard prospects in the local 2021 class, but he’s still got to improve in certain areas. It starts with his ability to defend several positions on the perimeter at an elite level, but you won’t find many at his size with a similar blend of athleticism and shooting ability. The next step for Russell will be to tighten up his ball-handling and working on finishing in traffic with his off hand.
