The SWBL Southwestern was a race between 4 teams and several players emerged as top players in the Dayton area. The backcourt is loaded with several players named to our SWBL Southwestern All Conference team. Read below to see who made the cut.
1st Team
Jacob Gudorf (2019)- Brookville 15 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds
Brookville’s floor general, Gudorf is our Player of the Year after putting up insane numbers in his final season for the Blue Devils. The league leader in assists, and 3rd in steals, Gudorf was just part of a 1-2 backcourt punch with Wade Turner that was arguably the best backcourt in the league.
Darren Rubin (2020)- Oakwood 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists
The leader of the Lumberjacks, Rubin led the league in scoring this year with his vast 3PT range. A sharpshooter with range near college level, Rubin emerged as one of the top prospects in the Dayton area in the Class of 2020.
Savon O’Neal (2020)- Franklin 12 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists
O’Neal made a big impact in his first season with the Wildcats. Finishing 3rd in assists, Savon excelled in dribble drive attacking which allowed Franklin to knock down plenty of 3PT shots. Has another year to continue improving and specifically work on using his right hand more.
Wade Turner (2019)- Brookville 15 points, 3 assists, 2 steals
The second guard in Brookville’s 1-2 punch, Turner finished 4th in the SWBL in scoring. A proven shooter, Wade has plenty of offensive skill that allowed his teammate Gudorf to pick up multiple assists.
Zach Minton (2020)- Franklin 14 points, 3 rebounds, 45% 3PT
Another young guard for Franklin, Minton has a tremendous 3PT shot and demands defensive presence whenever he is on the floor. He will continue to develop as a guard and could contend for Player of the Year next season.
2nd Team
Hayden Greene (2019)- Bellbrook 11 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist
The senior leader for the Eagles, Greene was a consistent scoring threat for Bellbrook and led the team in scoring for the season. A tough guard, Greene was a 3 year letterman.
Will Emrick (2020)- Franklin 13 points, 4 rebounds, 40% 3PT
The third sharpshooter on Franklin’s roster, Emrick became one of the league’s most consistent shooters. In a 39 point outing against Eaton, Emrick went 11-18 from beyond the arc. His return will help Franklin move toward being a favorite in the SWBL next year.
Manny Willis (2020)- Brookville 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists
An athletic forward with plenty of bounce. Manny finished 4th in the league in FG % making 56% of his shots. A proven rim protector Willis had a breakout season and made his name known in the league.
Travis Pittman (2021)- Eaton 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist
Only a sophomore, Pittman led the Eagles in scoring during the season and gives Eaton fans excitement for the 2019-2020 season.
Wes Turner (2019)- Brookville 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block
The 2nd frontcourt weapon for the Blue Devils, Turner is a strong, forward 4 that can play the 5 as well. Long and lengthy.
