Thomas Atkins, 6’3, 180, G, 2019, Hanover @LilKinz21
Atkins threw down one of the most famous dunks in high school basketball last season, which made Twitter waves when he was pushed from behind. However, Atkins’ game is more than dunks as he has put together a big season for Hanover, helping the Wildcats go 15-1. Also a football standout, Atkins does a little bit of everything well, whether it’s getting on the boards, playing defense or scoring around the basket.
Derek Gillett, 6’4, F, 2019, Mankato-Rock Hills @gillettdereck (pictured)
One of Kansas’ premier athletes, Gillett is a well rounded performer, capable of creating off the bounce, scoring in the paint and getting on the boards. He runs the floor well and can take a defensive rebound coast-to-coast, and is a terrific shot blocker, capable of highlight reel swats. He is among the state’s best dunkers, capable of throwing down powerful slams in traffic. Gillett has committed to play football at Benedictine.
Darnell Holloway, 6’3, G, 2019, Osborne @5dholloway
Holloway has signed to play football at Fort Hays state after a big year on the gridiron this past fall. At 6’3, 195-pounds, Holloway reports a 34.5-inch vertical and has showed it off this season on the hardwood, throwing down a host of highlight dunks, rebounding and blocking shots as he has helped lead Class 1A Osborne to a 17-0 record.
John Long, 6’0, G, 2019, Santa Fe Trail
Long has put together a huge season for Santa Fe Trail and recently knocked down nine 3-pointers in a win over Osawatonie en route to a 41-point performance. Long is averaging more than 30 points per game this season and has three 40-point games. SFT is now 16-0.
Kyler Reece, 6’3, G/F, 2020, Baxter Springs
Reece can do a little bit of everything, whether it’s knocking down a 3-pointer, scoring in transition or blocking a shot. At 6’3, he has good size for a wing player and has thrown down several highlight dunks this season.
