The Tigers, down by as many as 17 in the third quarter, posted a 20-point quarter in the fourth, but their comeback bid fell short thanks to stellar play by Stillwater. Below is seven intriguing individual prospects who had a big impact on the outcome of the game:
Hunter Staten 2019 Stillwater forward
At 6-foot-8-inches, Staten was the tallest player on the floor on Friday night. With a big wingspan to go with it, Staten can deal some serious damage in the pain. He finished with 13 points in the low-scoring affair and dominated the rebounding game, as well.
Ben Emmert 2020 Norman wing
Ben Emmert did not have his best shooting night, but came up big for the Tigers when it counted. Down by 15 entering the fourth quarter, Emmert posted a 10-point quarter to bring the Tigers back to within seven.
Garrick Martin 2020 Stillwater wing
Garrick Martin was the surprise player of the night for me, shooting the ball wall en route to a 17-point performance; good to lead all players in scoring. He has a very quick release from the wing and can knock down shots while being defended, making him a difficult player answer.
Dylan Smith 2019 Stillwater point guard
Dylan Smith is an exceptional ball-handler who can create his own shot. Smith is a talented ball-handler, first and foremost, and moves the ball about the set really well.
Jaden Bray 2021 Norman point guard
Jaden Bray is one of the brightest young atlantes in the lower OKC metro. He finished with 11 points, leading the Norman offense and playing fast, physical basketball all night. Bray never allows an easy bucket to get by him as he is a relentless defender. He does pretty much everything on the floor well.
Donnell Wagner 2021 Stillwater point guard
Standing just a hair under six-foot, Stillwater guard Donnell Wagner is a talented 3-point shooter and is an athletic player. Wagner hustles around the floor, gets rebounds, and plays great defense as well. He is a very fast guy who comes off the bench but gets a lot of minutes for the Pioneers.
Grant Goodson 2020 Norman forward
Grant Goodson drew attention with his 6-foot-7 frame and strength on the defensive end of the floor. He’s physical, scrappy, and smart. He gets leverage to pull down boards as well and helped to keep the Pioneers within reach.
