Game Recaps
The SPC tournament in Dallas, Texas hosts some very talented private school teams from all over Texas competing for an SPC title. One team in particular that looks like a serious contender to win the SPC tournament is Cistercian high school. The Cistercian Hawks are a well coached group that plays with discipline. Against St. John’s, Cistercian’s size really bothered them on the defensive end and made it extremely tough for them to score. St. John’s didn’t go away without a fight, but the Hawks were too much to handle.
Player Breakdown
Jack O’Neil / 6’4 / Guard / Cistercian / 2019
O’Neil is a polished two guard that can score in multiple ways. He has good footwork on the perimeter and knows how use the triple threat in the half court setting. O’Neil shot the ball well from three in a win versus St. Thomas.
Jack Slaughter / 6’8” / PF / Cistercian / 2021
Slaughter is a tall and long big man that uses his length to bother opponents on defense. Slaughter is still a work in progress on offense, but as he matures physically, his offensive game will continue to develop as well. Slaughter has a chance to emerge into a top 10 big in the state for his class before it’s all said and done.
Sam Clay / 5’11 / PG / Cistercian / 2019
Clay plays with a good tempo on offense and does a good job of distributing the ball to open teammates. He is a vocal leader that gets his team under control when they’re rattled.
Genson Hooper / 6’5” / Forward / 2019
Hooper is a bouncy athlete that uses his explosiveness to affect the game. Hooper was a little bit too unselfish on the offensive end and didn’t take advantage when slower defenders were matched up against him.
