Jayden Stone (Sacred Heart): The best player in the 2020 state class plays at 2A Sacred Heart. He has the size at 6’3 to play both guard spots. Stone can do it all offensively, and can guard both guard spots. Jayden is a humble kid who loves competing. Sacred Heart will need Stone to have big time performances in order to make a deep playoff run. There’s a reason Stone is ranked in the ESPN Top 60 Juniors, and this kid has the opportunity to climb the rankings.
JD Davison (Calhoun): JD is an electric combo guard who can do it all. This kid is super explosive and made headlines with his between legs dunk 2 weeks ago. Davison is one of the most sought after guards in the southeast. He plays with great confidence. On the year, JD has averaged 19-6-8. Defensively, Davison has averaged 3 steals and 2.5 blocks per game. JD is clearly the No. 1 ranked 2021 prospect in the state.
Christian Fortner (Thorsby): Little is known about Thorsby, but Fortner delivered in a big way in the 2018-19 season. The 6’5 senior lead Thorsby to a sub-regional game, and he averaged 25-10-4. Defensively, Christian averaged 2.3 spg and 5.6 bpg. The 2 sport stud finishes his playing career as one of the best to ever come through Thorsby.
Corey Boston (Lafayette): Boston is one of the quickest guards end to end in the state. This kid can go. He has a tight handle, and Boston is a very good finisher around the rim. The lefty showed off a more consistent 3 point shot this year as well. Corey is at his best breaking down a defender and making plays. On the season, he averaged 17 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals per game.
Gath Weathford (Red Bay): Weatherford has had a big time senior year. The 6’4 wing has been a crucial part in Red Bay’s success. The wing has been lethal from deep this season (42%) and shown off a well balanced offensive game. Weatherford has averaged 13-4-2. If Red Bay makes a deep post season run, Gath will play a big role in that. This senior will have a good opportunity at finishing his career in Birmingham.
Braden Ray (Red Bay): Ray is a 6’3-6’4 2021 prospect with tons of upside. Red Bay uses Braden to guard the best player on the opposing team. Braden is averaging 1.5 spg. Offensively, he is a good 3 point shooter (37%) and has a low turnover rate. On the season, Ray averages 10-5-2.
