The Dragons hosted Cedar Ridge in what was a close and competitive game at the half. However, Round Rock went on a huge run and ended the third quarter with a ten-point lead. They eventually took care of business in the fourth and closed their third-to-last game out with a 14-point home victory over the Raiders.
Player Breakdown
Carter Ford / 6’3″/ SG / Round Rock / 2019
Cedar Ridge kept leaving Ford open from deep, and he simply made them pay. He caught fire in the third quarter nailing four shots from downtown. On the defensive end, the senior guard was active and scrappy. He always found a way to deflect a pass or poke the ball loose from an opponent. Ford nailed six three-pointers and led the game in scoring with 28 points.
Will Isaac / 6’10″/ C / Round Rock / 2019
Isaac’s height and length gave Cedar Ridge problems throughout the night. The recent UT-Dallas commit displayed his patience inside. He took his time and scored efficiently around the basket. As he transitions to the next level, Isaac will need to develop an aggressive mindset of hitting the glass consistently. He does not look to play physical and he gets up and down the floor at a slow pace. Once the big man develops the toughness to bang and the ability to get up and down the floor with ease, he will be a mismatch problem at the Division III level. Isaac scored 15 points in the district win.
Caleb Golden / 6’3″/ SG / Cedar Ridge / 2020
Golden did not pick up his level of activity until the fourth quarter. He tended to go through the motions in the first three periods and it costed his team in the long run. However, he did eventually showcase his elite athleticism. He is a bouncy guard who is acrobatic around the basket and can elevate to make highlight plays on both ends of the floor. The junior also looks to have added muscle in the fall. Golden left a lot to be desired, but still led his team with 18 points in the contest.
