He is a 6’4” wing with strength and elite athleticism. We always knew this, but it was his consistent energy and motor that he brought to the table which impressed us the most. Smith is relentless attacking the hoop getting downhill with force. He uses his power to finish through guys. Elite second jump allows him to be a factor on the offensive glass for second chance points. He also passed it well and defended multiple wing spots. Improving jump shot as well.
Smith spoke about his sophomore campaign.
“The season has been going great. I think I have played good, but I am still recovering from a hand injury.”
Where has he seen the most growth in his development?
“I feel like I have improved on my shooting. I am shooting a higher percentage on my shots than I have ever shot. Stronger and better getting to the rim.”
A couple new schools have contacted his coach.
“Kansas State and Auburn have shown new interest.”
Smith also took an unofficial visit to Butler. Illinois was in to see him twice this season sending an assistant coach to his games. He has been watching them as well.
“They had a big win against Michigan State and I like how they play.”
Smith currently ranks as the #7 overall prospect and #2 small forward in the 2021 PHI Rankings.
