“The season has been going great. We are really happy with how we have been playing. We are happy with how things are going. We are looking to make a nice run in the post season.”
How does Houpt feel he has played this season?
“I feel I have been playing well. I have been shooting well from three. I have added a lot to my game and handling it a lot more. Getting to the basket and making plays for others.”
Being one of the top combo guards in the state Houpt has quite a few schools pursuing him.
“I have offers from Flagler, Illinois-Springfield, and Lewis. I am in contact with some other D2s and a few low D1s. Hillsdale has been in contact with me a lot. They want me to come up there. Southwest Baptist has also been talking to me a lot. No new offers recently, but I have been in contact with a lot of D2 schools.”
Have you taken any visits?
“Not yet. I am planning on taking some visits when the season wraps up.”
He told us what he will be looking for in a program.
“I am going to be looking for a good education. The location doesn’t matter to me. I am fine staying close to home and I am fine going away from home. A good basketball program and good education and nice campus.”
Houpt is the #38 overall prospect in the state and #10 shooting guard.
