“My job as the leader is to get everyone involved, score the ball, make sure we get in our sets, and to set the tone by playing good defense,” Davis told Prep Hoops.
At 6-foot-2, Davis is an aggressive scorer with the ability to create space quite easily. His off-hand finishing has improved, and we’ve seen this throughout the season as he’s gone left and scored multiple times in traffic with his weaker hand.
“I think my jumping ability and my shooting ability are underrated,” said Davis. “I kind of shy away from getting rebounds when I should get more. I shy from putbacks when I should get more. Little stuff that I have to tweak to make me a better player.”
Davis says his main goal is to attend college for free. It appears he’s on the right track both on and off the floor. NC A&T and Morgan State are a couple of the schools who are reportedly involved with his recruitment for now.
“They like my leadership on the court,” said Davis of the feedback he receives from college coaches. “They like my defensive skills. They like how I play the passing lanes, but they warn me to be too aggressive because it opens up driving lanes. They like my aggressiveness on the ball, how I get in the lane and score or dish.”
What can Davis bring to the next level?
“Energy. Defense, aggressiveness. Getting the team ready to play big games. Someone who can score the ball and be a good player.”
