Continue ReadingFairview junior Jalen Page’s recruitment was white hot early on in his prep career, cooled off for a time and is now regaining some traction based on the way he has been playing in 2018-19.
The junior wing received some early interest from Air Force and the University of Denver. Page finishes well around the rim and is working on playing above the rim more to reignite that Division-I interest.
Whatever collegiate level Page ends up at, there’s a lot to like about the versatile 6-foot-5 wing.
“He has a high basketball IQ and the ability to shoot the ball,” Fairview head coach Patrick Burke said. “He’s shooting the ball a lot better now. He also has the ability to defend both guards and bigs. Jalen does everything right in terms of taking care of the basketball, rebounding and making the right play.”
Through 19 games, Page is averaging 14.1 points, 1.17 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocked shots per night. He’s also averages 6.5 rebounds a night while fighting for boards with big time soccer recruit Mark O’Neill and a trio of Division-I football recruits in Aidan Atkinson, Ashton Nichols and Henry Blackburn.
Page has scored double digit points in all but three of the Knights’ 19 games this season. He is shooting 51 percent from the field and has hit 40 percent (20 of 50) of his 3-point attempts.
This summer will be big for Page, and he will spend it play with his club team the Colorado Titans.
“I think he just wants to play basketball at the next level and play at the highest level he can reach,” Burke said.
