Recruiting Report: Antonio Reeves (2019)
Simeon 2019 shooting guard Antonio Reeves continues to see his stock rise as a senior. After getting a bump in the latest PHI Rankings he had another solid outing at the O’Fallon Shootout on Saturday night against Belleville West. The long and lanky 6’4” two guard did what he does best in this game knocking down 3-6 from beyond the arc. Fluid shot with a soft landing. In the overtime session he displayed his improving game off the bounce getting in the paint for a floater and a couple other scores. Handles have definitely improved. Length defensively getting in passing lanes. He had 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.
We caught up with Reeves after to get the latest on his recruitment.
“I have interest from Wisconsin, Georgetown, Illinois, and Eastern Tennessee.”
Illinois is a program that has gotten in the mix recently with the senior two guard. When did they begin to show interest?
“Last month. Coach Chin has been talking to my dad. I haven’t talked to him yet.”
Reeves says that he will be taking an official visit over multiple days to Illinois beginning next Saturday. Although they haven’t offered yet they are definitely monitoring him closely. What will he be looking for on the visit?
“I am going to be looking for players being leaders. The campus. Check out their facilities, nutrition, practice facility, and stadium.”
Wisconsin is another school that has been keeping a close eye on him throughout the season.
“They have been texting me and calling me. Making sure I am good. They are supposed to coming to one of my playoff games.”
Georgetown was in to see Reeves for their Morgan Park game. He doesn’t hold offers from any of the three high-majors, but there is growing interest. Reeves spoke about the overall development in his offensive skill set.
“I have been improving on my game off the bounce and getting in the lane more. Making floaters and getting my team involved. Being a leader.”
