The 2019 guard totaled a game-high 30 points including 18 second half points in Friday night’s Class 5A-District 11 Final win, 55-49 over Cardinal Newman.
Cajuste and the ThunderWolves finished the regular season a perfect 24-0 and will now play Coral Springs Charter in the region quarterfinal on Thursday night.
The 6’0″ senior missed all of the summer travel ball session due to an injury forcing him to have surgery and miss important tournaments with his E1T1 squad.
Cajuste called his final high school year a grind as he says he’s getting back to 100 percent.
“The most growth I’ve seen from a season ago is me being calmer under pressure and making better decisions and my shot had been getting a lot better since last season,” he told Prep Hoops.
No offers have come yet for the speedy point guard, but Cajuste has generated interest from the likes of North Florida, Old Dominion, FAU, FIU, Southeastern Louisiana, Bethune Cookman and Georgia Southern.
He says a lot of colleges message him, but he can’t point out a certain program that stands out in terms of the daily contact as of now.
Perper: What are some attributes in your game that separate you from others?
Cajuste: My speed and quickness. Also, me being shifty is what gives me a step over any defender I think it’s really hard for others to stay in front of me.
Perper: What do you want to improve in your game?
Cajuste: What I’ve been working on the most is getting my shot more consistent.
One of the more well known guards in West Palm Beach, Cajuste has been getting it done for Oxbridge over the past few seasons. There are many 6’0″ guards in the country, but Cajuste has endless speed, a ton of determination and continues to get better each game. He plays with a purpose and a bright mind.
