Prospect Spotlight: Zach Trevino (2020)
Davenport West guard Zach Trevino was enjoying a fine junior season before tearing some ligaments in his foot back in January.
Through 12 games, he was averaging 11.8 points per game, and was the Falcons’ leading 3-point shooter.
With his size and shooting ability, Trevino is an intriguing prospect out of Iowa’s 2020 class.
“Shooting is probably my best strength, and it’d be rebounding after that. I try to be an all-around player, but I know shooting is what I’m best at,” said Trevino.
“I need to improve my ball-handling and shooting off the dribble, those are the biggest things.”
Davenport West got by Ottumwa on Tuesday night without Trevino. But he says he’ll be back in action against Iowa City West on Friday.
This offseason, Trevino will play summer ball with the Falcons. He’s not sure if he’ll play grassroots ball this summer or not, he played for Illinois Rage 17U last offseason, but doesn’t know if they’ll have a team this year.
Trevino has seen some light interest come in from a couple small schools. He’s hoping to see that recruitment increase ahead of his senior season.
“I’m just looking to get better and to get some attention from schools,” said Trevino. “And my big goal, is by the time I’m out of high school to get to state.”
