At 6-foot-4, Carter has intriguing size for a guard. And his ability to score and distribute are things that could have college coaches’ interest piqued this summer.
“Ball-handling and being able to shoot the ball is what I’m best at. And then being able to choose my spots of when to score and when to dish it off to my teammates,” said Carter.
“I need to become more of a vocal leader and becoming better on defense, and obviously getting stronger.”
With Langston Hughes this winter, Carter says he was a little nervous coming into the season; he knew it was going to be an important one for him.
“When the season came, we had our first game against Shiloh and I had 17 points, and after that I never looked back. They needed me to score the ball, be a leader and just be an all-around player,” said Carter, who mentioned he averaged 19 points and five rebounds per game this season.
“I thought I played pretty good, and I kind of got my name out there a little bit. I’d have liked to gone further in the playoffs, but overall I played pretty good.”
Carter is on to his track and field season now, and soon he’ll head into a 17U grassroots season. He says he doesn’t know who he’ll play with yet, “There’s some options right now, some pretty good options,” Carter said.
Recruitment-wise, North Florida, Wofford, Georgia Southern , Georgia State, UNC Asheville, Chattanooga and Lipscomb are schools he’s mentioned that are interested in him.
“I’m just still working on trying to get my name out there more,” Carter said. “And becoming a better prospect.”
