Deontay Cozart, a class of 2020 guard from HD Woodson, thoroughly asserted himself on both ends of the court throughout his team's comprehensive victory over Thurgood Marshall in the opening round of DCSAA States. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, Cozart evaluated his team's performance while discussing a handful of other topics.

PH: How would you evaluate today's team performance on a scale of 1-10? 

DC: "I give it a 7. We fell short to them the first time, but we came back strong."

PH: What's your role for this team?

DC: "I was trying to get more assists, less turnovers today. We're also working on our free throws."

PH: How would you describe your game for those who haven't seen you play?

DC: "I'm a playmaker type. I'm a guard who tries to get his team involved."

PH: What's an underrated skill of yours?

DC: "Steals."

PH: What do you think you need to work on?

DC: "Ball handling and free throws."

PH: What are the team goals?

DC: "To work on our free throws. We're not very good at them right now."

PH: What do you know about your next opponent? 

DC: "I've never seen them
