Prospect Spotlight: Daxton Dayley (2020)
Hurricane shooting guard Daxton Dayley recently wrapped up his junior season with the Tigers, and has a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
Dayley, a 6-foot-3 sharpshooter, is getting set to play his first-ever offseason of grassroots ball. And hopes to emerge as a top player for the Tigers next winter.
Currently, Dayley sees himself as a shooting specialist, “I see myself as a good shooter, that was my role this year was to get it and shoot,” he said. But he hopes to develop into a more complete player this spring and summer.
“Next year will be different, I’ll have to do more than just shoot,” said Dayley, who was the Tigers’ sixth-man this season. “I’ll have to play defense and score around the hoop, not just the 3. So. I’m just going to work hard this season and hopefully we’ll have a better next year.”
Dayley is set to play with St. George-based grassroots program Southern Utah Elite. It’s his first year playing club ball.
It’s college hoops that’s the ultimate goal for Dayley, who’s hoping to see some recruitment materialize this summer while playing with the squad.
“I’m just going to work as hard as a I can, and my end goal is to play somewhere after high school and help the team out however I can,” said Dayley.
