During their most recent win at Oxon Hill, which avenged a loss earlier in the season, class of 2020 prospect Corey Dyches was the standout. After the game, Dyches explained why his team is clicking at the right time.
“They’re a great team. This is probably the toughest team we’ve played this year,” said Dyches of the Clippers. “We weren’t really moving the ball when we took the loss. Now we’re playing as a team, getting each other the ball, everyone is scoring, and that’s what it’s about. That’s why we got the W.”
Listed at 6-foot-2 190 pounds, Dyches plays like he’s about 6-foot-6. He’s an incredible leaper off one or two feet, and has outstanding body control. Dyches is responsible for staying on the glass, using his quickness to get into the lane and find open teammates, and score when the opportunity presents itself.
“I’m becoming a more confident shooter,” Dyches stated regarding his recent skill development. “I’m still working on that along with my ball-handling. Trying to become more of a 1 or 2.”
It should be noted that Dyches is being recruited by schools like Maryland and Indiana to play Wide Receiver, but he is yet to receive any offers for basketball. Ultimately he might choose to follow the football path, but only time will tell how his basketball recruitment could develop over the next few months.
“My goal this summer is to hopefully pick up my first D1 scholarship offer for basketball.”
