The sophomore point guard prospect, who is averaging about 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists per game this season, was a standout during his team’s recent win at Oakton. After the game, we caught up with Kuzemka to discuss his transition from PVI, his overall game, and much more.
PH: What’s the biggest difference in your game over the course of the last few months?
CK: “Coach gave me the green light to pull from anywhere. He’s actually asked me to shoot even more. He wants me to shoot 15 plus times per game. Just be in attack mode and get other people involved. It just makes us a better team when I do that.”
PH: What is the most underrated part of your game right now?
CK: “I think its my defense. I think I can lock someone up. I contest shots very well, and I make it hard for other guards to score.”
PH: What are you working on right now?
CK: “In general, just everything. I’m really working on getting a quicker first step. I’m also trying to get my vertical up and add some muscle mass as well. Trying to get more weight on me.”
PH: How are your grades?
CK: “Right now I’ve got All A’s and a B+.”
PH: How would you compare playing in the WCAC vs. Public School?
CK: “It’s crazy how fast the WCAC was. They say it’s the best league in high school to get you ready for college. I believe it because there’s no comparison to it. I played JV most of the year last season, and even that was faster than varsity here at times.”
PH: What are some goals that you’ve set for yourself?
CK: “I want to get a couple of D1 offers. I want to win a state championship with this team. I like our chances to go far this year.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
CK: “Just overall leadership. Getting everyone better. Outside shooting, and really an all-around game.”
